Kerbal Space Program Review

Updated: Oct 17, 2020

Kerbal Space Program is a Newtonian rocketry simulator with funny green monsters called Kerbals.

Let's start with the complaints: I don't like the learning curve. If we could write an equation for such a curve, it would be asymptotic; root x plus 5 most likely. But once the curve flattens it is smooth sailing (not to imply that it becomes unchallenging).

While it is not the most realistic space simulator out there, it gives a reasonably accurate representation of a real space program for normal people to understand (some notable features excluded are food, oxygen, orbit decay, solar wind, and space debris around Earth/Kerbin).

I felt exhilarated at each milestone. I felt tension during each landing on foreign bodies; a single mistake could cost me the lives of every Kerbal on board. There is not game truly like this outside of a supercomputer simulation.
