DUSK Review

Updated: Oct 17, 2020

DUSK is a lovely homage to Quake and Quake II. The production company, New Blood Interactive, seems to specialize in these arena shooter throwbacks and I hope to check out more of their catalogue.

If you are at all familiar with the history of FPSs then the story is no surprise: Hell has invaded, and it's up to you to stop them! Grab your shotgun and get blasting! The graphics are delightfully low poly, the lighting is unapologetically static and mapping based, the AI is dumb as a brick (in a good way), and the music is kick-ass synth rock.

And the game isn't just ripping off other games, there are plenty of original enemies and ideas that weren't in those 90's shooters such as invisible reindeer, chainsaw lunatics, mad scientists, ordinary rats, and exploding flamethrower butchers! There is also a nice nod to Heretic with a green-arrowed crossbow.

If you love 90's shooters and have already played them all, then go ahead and give DUSK a try!

8/10
