GRIP: Combat Racing is the spiritual successor to the old Rollcage and Wipeout games. The UI and car designs are nearly identical to Rollcage. The gimmick with GRIP is that the cars have a lot of "down force" (not sure how, they don't all have spoilers) and can drive on the walls and ceilings. It is very similar to F-Zero in that the tracks require some memorization and the speeds are intense.
The collision physics are quite forgiving and tend to lead the player back on the track. The tracks themselves are varied in difficulty and theme with some being in volcanoes, frozen wastelands, inner cities, a Mars-like iron-oxide planet, and even outer space.
What separates GRIP from F-Zero is the chaos. GRIP thrives on the chaos of powerup explosions, car collisions, sharp turns, cars flipping, and thermonuclear Mario Kart blue shells. It's fun to see a car you just disabled to pass by at 500 kph like they're standing still.
The biggest problem with the game is that the content is shallow. Personally I've only gotten about 40 or so hours out if it as of writing. I wish they would add one or two more planets that you can race on.
I'd recommend this game to fans of the original Rollcage or racing games in general.
